Exterior:

This SUV has a twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine that is both smooth and powerful. The BMW engine has been tweaked by the M performance division to produce 473 to 503 horsepower and 457 to 479 pound-feet of torque.

BMW X6 M 2023 Price

In addition to having a standard sports exhaust system and 21-inch wheels, the Competition model has more power. Every X3 M comes equipped with an automatic transmission with eight gears and all-wheel drive, which can when required, send all of the engine’s torque to the rear wheels.

Interior:

The 2023 X3 M’s interior is identical to that of the regular X3. The complete M edition comes with a variety of unique additions in addition to more traditional functions. The latter is principally distinguished by “M” emblems, red drive-mode buttons on the steering wheel, and heavily padded front seats. The front seats’ bolstering is increased with the Competition package.

The cabin’s attractive materials show how committed BMW is to upscale design. In addition to the normal leather upholstery and other interior accoutrements, BMW has included a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, 14-way power front seats, adjustable ambient interior lighting, and heated front-seat cushions.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance:

The twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine in this crossover is smooth and powerful. The M performance group has tweaked the BMW engine to produce 473 to 503 horsepower and 457 to 479 pound-feet of torque. The Competition model is the only one with the extra power, and it also comes with 21-inch wheels and a standard sports exhaust system.

All-wheel drive is standard on every X3 M, and it has an eight-speed automatic transmission that can transfer all of the engine’s output to the back wheels if necessary. The 2020 X3 M Competition we tested was incredibly fast and nimble for its size. The vehicle reached 60 mph in only 3.3 seconds, closed the distance between 50 and 70 mph in just 3.1 ticks, and ran the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds at 119 mph. For comparison, the BMW M3 sports car reaches 60 mph somewhat slower than the SUV, doing it in 3.5 seconds. But in the quarter-mile, the M3 begins to distance itself from the X3 M.

The X3 M rounds our skidpad with an outstanding 0.97 g of grip and stops from 70 mph in the same 146 feet as that car. The X3 M’s ride is extremely stiff even with the standard adaptive dampers in their softest setting, making it possibly too hardcore for most people to enjoy on a daily basis. The steering never prevents us from appreciating the lower limits of its excellent capabilities thanks to the decent amount of input transmitted by the thick-rimmed steering wheel.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG:

The X3 M is anticipated to achieve 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway with or without the Competition package. These numbers are well below those of competitors like the 469-hp Mercedes-AMG GLC63 SUV and the 505-hp Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (with 17 and 23 mpg, respectively) (16 and 22 mpg). In the actual world, the Bimmer did better, though.

Our rigorous testing procedures included a 75 mph highway fuel-economy route, where the X3 M outperformed the government’s highway rating by 7 mpg. For comparison, we measured the GLC63 SUV at 20 mpg and the Stelvio QF at 21 mpg; both vehicles fell short of their highway ratings by 2 mpg.

Infotainment and Connectivity:

A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with several control options comes standard on every X3 M. In addition to the touch functionality of the screen, BMW includes controls on the steering wheel and a physical volume knob on the centre stack.

On the middle console, there is also a rotary controller encircled by shortcut buttons. A 16-speaker Harman/Kardon radio, in-dash navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and charging connections all over the interior are popular standard features. The extensive Executive package offers gesture controls and wireless charging for those who desire even more bells and whistles.

Features for Driver Assistance and Safety:

A comprehensive array of driver-aid technologies is included as standard in the small luxury crossover, and further features like self-parking assistance are available as options. Visit the websites of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for more details regarding the X3 M’s crash test results. Important safety elements include:

  • Standard rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring
  • Typical lane departure alert
  • Adaptive cruise control is accessible
