The Skoda is quite light for a car of its size and type, weighing only 1.5 tonnes for the entry-level five-seater petrol, but don’t expect it to be particularly fun or agile as a result. It’s based on the well-known MQB platform (as are the VW Passat and other models) and drives similarly. This is a soothing vehicle that prefers gradual, measured inputs. It feels sturdy and well-balanced, with precise, consistent controls that make flying the Skodiaq a breeze.

Sure, the large door mirrors make some wind noise, but overall, this is a quiet, easy car to drive long distances in. It’s also comfortable, though the large wheels on the Sportline model don’t help (even if they look the part).
