The liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1037cc, 90-degree V-twin engine produces more horsepower with the same torque and fuel economy while meeting global emissions standards. Because the engine has smooth power pulses, the perfect primary balance provided by the 90-degree V-twin design eliminates the need for balancer shafts or rubber mounting.
The large-bore, high-compression pistons were designed using FEM analysis to achieve optimal rigidity, weight, and durability. These pistons move within cylinder bores plated with Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) and integrated into the upper crankcase for low weight, increased durability, reduced friction, and excellent heat dissipation.
The valve lift timing on both the exhaust and intake camshafts has been increased with less overlap to increase engine power while decreasing fuel consumption.
